Speaker Biography: Stefan is a PhD candidate at the University of Bern, where his research focuses on quantitative and genomic analyses to identify genetic variants influencing hoof and leg traits in Swiss dairy cattle. Stefan holds a Master’s degree in Agricultural Sciences from ETH Zürich, with a major in animal science and minors in data science and plant breeding.

Stefan gained experience in data analysis through an internship at Swissgenetics, where he worked on cattle embryo datasets. He conducted genomic analyses during his Master’s thesis in collaboration with Qualitas AG, focusing on the genetic architecture of milk urea content in Swiss cattle. In addition, Stefan gained hands-on experience through genetics-related laboratory work within the Molecular Plant Breeding group at ETH Zürich, as well as solid statistical knowledge through involvement in the teaching of applied statistics.
