This week we are pleased to welcome Dr. Henrique Mulim, a postdoctoral research assistant at Purdue University, who will present a seminar for us on Friday, March 28th, 2025. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST on the virtual platform Microsoft Teams. The presentation title is: "The Genetic Puzzle of Angus Cattle: Selection, Inbreeding, and Diversity."
Speaker Bio: Dr. Henrique Mulim is an animal scientist specializing in Genetics and Animal Breeding, with a strong background in livestock research. He earned his M.S. from the State University of Ponta Grossa, where he studied genotype-environment interactions in Holstein cattle, analyzing how environmental conditions influence genetic expression. He later completed his Ph.D. at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) under the supervision of Dr. Victor Breno Pedrosa, focusing on genetic diversity, the genomic characterization of the Purunã breed, and heterozygous-rich regions. In 2024, he joined Purdue University as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant under the supervision of Dr. Hinayah Rojas, researching the genetic diversity of the Angus population worldwide. His work contributes to understanding breed development, conservation, and the future of livestock genetics through research and innovation.
Information to attend: To join this seminar, please ensure you have downloaded the Microsoft Teams application to your computer or join the meeting online using the web browser version of Microsoft Teams. Please join the meeting with your microphone on mute and the camera turned off. After the presentation, you can unmute the microphone, and optionally turn on the camera, if you wish to ask a question.
