This week we are happy to have Dr. Simone Guimaraes, a professor at the Federal University of Viçosa, presenting for us on Friday, October 20th, 2023. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST on the virtual platform Microsoft Teams. The title of the presentation is: "Let's uncover Zebu genetics?".
 
Speaker Biography: Dr. Simone Guimaraes has a bachelor's in Veterinary Medicine at the Federal Rural University of Amazonia, a master's in Veterinary Medicine at the Veterinary School, and a Ph.D. in Animal Science at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. She held post-doctorate positions at Iowa State University working with molecular genetics applied to swine meat production and at the Wageningen University of Research in partnership with the Institute for Pig Genetics (TOPIGS) working with swine genomic selection. Currently, she is a full professor at the Department of Animal Science at the Federal University of Viçosa, Brazil. Dr. Guimaraes has experience in genetics, focusing on genomic selection, genome-wide association, proteomic, post-genomic, and functional genomics. She supervised/co-supervised more than 120 master's and PhD students and published more than 230 papers and 300 abstracts at conferences.
