CGIL Seminar W2026- Dr. Didier Boichard

We are happy to have Dr. Didier Boichard, from INRAE, presenting for us on Friday, January 30th, 2026. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST on the virtual platform Microsoft Teams. The presentation title is: “Integrating Structural Variants into Sequence-Based GWAS Using a bovine Pangenome”   

 

Speaker Biography:  Didier Boichard is an agricultural engineer from the Paris Agricultural University (AgroParisTech). He completed his PhD on the genetics of dairy cow fertility in 1987. He is now research director at INRAE in France, where he has devoted his career to bovine genetics and genomics. He has been responsible for genetic evaluations in France and implemented genomic selection in 2009. From 2002 to 2009, he led the Animal Genetics Division at INRAE. He also chaired the Labogena genotyping laboratory from 2004 to 2013. From 2010 to 2024, he led the Bovine Genetics and Genomics team at GABI department, whose activities cover genome analysis, the genetic determinism of traits, as well as selection methods. He was member of the steering committee of the “1000 Bull Genomes” consortium. He is the author or co-author of over 210 publications. He is co-editor-in-chief of the journal Genetics Selection Evolution. In 2015, he received the Gold Medal from the French Academy of Agriculture; and in 2024, the Dujarric de la Rivière Prize from the French Academy of Sciences.
