Speaker biography: Dr. Lucio Mota is an Animal Scientist with a master's degree in Animal Science, specializing in Genetics and Animal Breeding. His research focused on gene expression and proteomics related to residual feed intake in Nelore cattle. He also holds a Ph.D. in Genetics and Animal Breeding, concentrating on the integration of genomic data into reaction norm models. During his Ph.D., Dr. Mota completed an internship at the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Mota's expertise includes genomic selection, genome-wide association studies, gene enrichment analysis, the integration of omics data, statistical methodologies, and machine learning techniques. Currently, he is a postdoctoral researcher at UNESP-FCAV, where he works with whole genome sequencing data in Nelore cattle. Additionally, Dr. Mota collaborates on statistical analyses related to large-scale phenotyping and the integration of omics data to identify resilience indicators during the transition period in dairy cows at the University of Padova.
