This week we are happy to have Dr. Breno Fregomeni, assistant professor at the University of Connecticut, presenting for us on Friday, November 17th, 2023. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST on the virtual platform Microsoft Teams. The title of the presentation is: "Implementing genomic selection programs for heat stress tolerance in Livestock".

Speaker Biography: Dr. Breno Fragomeni has been an assistant professor at the University of Connecticut since 2018. He is specialized in genomic prediction, with a focus on the prediction of complex traits related to heat stress tolerance, welfare, disease resistance, behaviour, and production. In addition to that, his research focuses on investigating genomic aspects underlying such complex traits, with the overarching goal of improving the quality of genome-wide association studies, or at least understanding its limitations. His lab has experience with several species, including dairy and beef cattle, shrimp, rainbow trout, swine, and dogs, among others. When he is not teaching, 'running BLUP', or writing FORTRAN scripts, he likes to spend time with his daughters, a 7-year-old and the 18-month-old twin girls.
