This week we are happy to have Dr. Ligia Cavani, Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, presenting a seminar on Friday, March 31st, 2023. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST on the virtual platform Microsoft Teams. The title of the presentation is: "Genetic basis of dairy cow feed efficiency".
 
Speaker Biography: Dr. Ligia Cavani is originally from Brazil, where she received her B.S. in Animal Science and M.S. and Ph.D. from São Paulo State University. Cavani is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the department of Animal and Dairy Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, working with Dr. Francisco Peñagaricano and Dr. Kent Weigel. Her research has included quantitative genetics, the development of new phenotypes using high–throughput datasets, genomic prediction, and gene mapping in dairy cattle. Currently, her focus has been on feed efficiency in Holstein cows.
