We are happy to invite you to a special in-person CGIL seminar. We will have Dr. Steve Miller, Director of the Animal Genetics and Breeding Unit (AGBU) at the University of New England, Australia, to present on Thursday January 26th, 2023. The seminar will begin at 2:30 PM EDT/EST in ANNU 141. The title of the presentation is: "Advancements in livestock breeding and some thoughts on the future".

Speaker Biography:
Dr. Steve Miller has 25 years of experience with livestock genetics, genomics, and technology and their application for the genetic improvement across a range of species. Dr. Miller was appointed Director of the Animal Genetics and Breeding Unit (AGBU) at the University of New England, Australia, in 2021. In AGBU, Dr. Miller strives to build on AGBU’s strong legacy of effective tool delivery to industry and has seen first-hand the difference those tools make for producers every day. Prior to AGBU, Dr. Miller was the Director of Genetic Research for Angus Genetics Inc. (AGI) in the USA where he fostered improvement of the evaluation methods for the world’s largest beef breed association’s weekly national cattle evaluation. Dr. Miller was also a principal scientist with the animal genomics team at AgResearch Ltd. in New Zealand. Dr. Miller is originally from Canada and was on the faculty at the University of Guelph for 14 years where he finished as the Director of the Centre for Genetic Improvement of Livestock.
