We are happy to have with us Dr. Amanda Alvarenga, a data scientist at Corteva Agriscience, to present this Friday November 18th, 2022. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST on the virtual platform Microsoft Teams. The title of the presentation is: "Genetic architecture of temperament and foot scores in Angus cattle: a longitudinal and across-country perspective".
 
Speaker Biography:
Amanda Alvarenga has recently completed her Ph.D. degree at Purdue University under the supervision of Dr. Luiz Brito. Her research was focused on quantitative genetics and genomics, and a few topics included (i) data simulation to evaluate single-step genomic prediction approaches in crossbred populations, (ii) a systematic review of genes controlling behavioral indicators in livestock species, and humans, (iii) evaluation of behavior in American Angus calves, (iv)  behavior as a longitudinal trait in American Angus dams, and (v) evaluation of an across country evaluation for American and Australian Angus populations. Amanda has recently started a position as a data scientist focused on plant breeding at Corteva Agriscience in the USA, where she will partner with plant breeders to drive analytical genetic gains.
