Speaker Biography:
Erin is originally from Chatham-Kent, in Southwestern, Ontario and now lives in Guelph with her two English Springer Spaniels. Erin started at the University of Guelph in the Bachelors of Arts and Sciences Program, before continuing with graduate studies in CGIL under the supervision of Dr. Flavio Schenkel. Erin’s M.Sc. work focused on genetic parameter estimation and selection index design for carcass traits in Canadian meat sheep, while her Ph.D. research worked towards implementing genomic evaluations for milk production and classification traits in Canadian dairy goats. During her time in CGIL, Erin was CGIL Seminar Co-ordinator and co-president of the Animal Biosciences Graduate Student Council. While finishing up her Ph.D., Erin had the opportunity to join the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs as the Acting Small Ruminant Specialist throughout 2021, where she was involved in applied research and KTT activities to suppor the Ontario sheep and goat sectors. Erin defended her Ph.D. in May 2022 and shortly after that joined the team at AgSights as Manager of Research and Innovation. In this week’s seminar, she will be presenting an update on on-going Research and Innovation projects at AgSights.
