Speaker Biography:
Dr. Andrea Schreier is an adjunct associate professor in the Department of Animal Science at the University of California Davis. She got her PhD in Ecology from UC Davis in the Genomic Variation Laboratory and was a postdoc then project scientist there before getting a faculty appointment and taking over the lab when her mentor, Bernie May, retired. Andrea uses genetic tools to answer ecological and evolutionary questions about fish and wildlife species, with a special interest in sturgeon. She has worked with resource management agencies to improve conservation aquaculture programs throughout her career.

Dr. Mandi Finger is an associate project scientist in the Department of Animal Science at the University of California Davis. She also earned her PhD in Ecology at UC Davis in the Genomic Variation Laboratory, followed by postdoctoral work with Bernie May. Dr. Finger is now a project scientist and lead geneticist for the genetic management of the delta smelt refugial population. More broadly she enjoys collaborating with agency biologists and other researchers using a range of molecular tools to understand and manage threatened and endangered species, including California native trout, desert fishes, and longfin smelt.
