We are happy to have with us Dr. Anderson Alves, a Research Associate at the University of Wisconsin, to present a CGIL Seminar on Friday April 1st, 2022. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST on the virtual platform Microsoft Teams. The title of the presentation is: "Genome-enabled analysis of complex traits with machine learning methods".

Speaker Biography:

Dr. Anderson Alves was born in Brazil, where he earned his BS in Animal Science from State University Vale do Acarau (2014), MS in Animal Science from Federal University of Ceara (2016), and Ph.D. in Animal Breeding and Genetics from Sao Paulo State University (2019). He is currently a Research Associate at the University of Wisconsin - Madison and has served as Professor in the Federal Institute Education, Science and Technology of Maranhão until 2021. Dr. Alves is broadly interested in the development and application of efficient statistical methods and machine learning algorithms for solving real-life problems related to the genetics and genomics of complex traits with economic importance in different domestic species such as dairy goats, sheep, beef cattle, and broilers. More recently he also has been involved in precision livestock farming projects, including the development of high-throughput phenotyping techniques driven with different data sources such as digital images and audio signals.
