We are happy to have with us Audrey Martin, a PhD student at the University of Guelph, to present a CGIL Seminar on Friday March 25th, 2022. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST on the virtual platform Microsoft Teams. The title of the presentation is: "Novelties for the genetic improvement of reproduction in dairy cattle".

Speaker Biography:

Audrey Martin is a PhD candidate under the supervision of Dr. Flavio Schenkel at the University of Guelph. Audrey received a degree in Biological Engineering from the University of Lyon (France) in 2014, and a BSc specialising in livestock genetics from the University of Limoges (France) in 2015. She did her undergraduate thesis on reproductive physiology, under the supervision of Dr. Stephen Butler at the Teagasc Moorepark (Ireland). She then completed an MSc in Genetic and Biodiversity at Wageningen University (Netherlands) in 2018. With the guidance of Drs. Marinus te Pas and Henri Woelders, her thesis aimed at understanding the genetics of the oestrous cycle in dairy cattle. During her MSc, she came to CGIL as a visiting student under the supervision of Drs. Filippo Miglior and Luiz Brito. She was working on estimating genetic parameters of methane emission in dairy cattle. Since 2019, Audrey's thesis focuses on improving the genetic selection for reproduction in dairy cattle.
