We are very pleased to have Dr. Victor Pedrosa, a Professor at State University of Ponta Grossa (Brazil), to present a CGIL Seminar on Friday November 19th, 2021. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST on the virtual platform Microsoft Teams. The title of the presentation is: “Genome-wide association analyses of lactation persistency and milk production traits in Holstein cattle based on imputed whole-genome sequence data”.

Speaker Biography:

Dr. Victor Pedrosa has been working for more than 15 years as a specialist in the dairy farming sector in Brazil, mainly in animal breeding and genetics. He has implemented the first genetic evaluation of dairy females in the country and expanded the dairy cattle selection program with the application of new genomic techniques. Dr. Pedrosa is a technical advisor to the leading breed associations, including the Holstein and Jersey cattle breed associations in Brazil. He also works as a technical advisor for the CRV group (Dutch holding company with a unit in Brazil), responsible for developing new tools applied to dairy farming and genomics. Dr. Pedrosa has been working since 2017 as an advisor and responsible for the genomic evaluation for Katayama Nellore Cattle, which is the primary bull seller in the Brazil. He is also a technical advisor for the Farm Under Control - Brazil (software system), used for more than 500 dairy farms in Brazil. Finally, Dr. Pedrosa is an Ad Hoc consultant for several funding agencies in Brazil and MITACS/Canada.
