Speaker Biography:

Dr. Tatiane Seleguim Chud obtained her B.Sc. in Animal Science (2011) and M.Sc (2014) and Ph.D. (2018) in Animal Breeding and Genetics from São Paulo State University (UNESP) in Brazil. Her master’s thesis focused on Genotype Imputation in beef cattle. At that time, she was awarded a scholarship for a 6-months internship in the CGIL, University of Guelph, Canada, under the supervision of Dr. Flavio Schenkel. This experience increased her expertise in quantitative genetics and genomics.  While undertaking her Ph.D. in Brazil, she had the chance to work with copy number variation detection in dairy cattle, which gave her experience with next-generation-sequence data analysis. During her 1-year Ph.D. internship abroad, she worked in the Animal Genomics and Improvement Lab at ARS-USDA, which allowed her to become familiar with the US dairy genetic evaluation. In May 2018, Dr. Chud joined CGIL as a Postdoctoral Fellow. She carried out several research investigations and assisted graduate students in several genomic projects within The Efficient Dairy Genome Project, which was funded through Genome Canada. More recently, in April 2021, Dr. Chud joined Fast genetics as a geneticist. Her primary responsibilities are: development, implementation, and monitoring of genomic evaluations, development of standards for the data collection, storage, and quality control, performing genomic analysis, and providing genetic support to customers
