We are very pleased to have Dr. Pablo Fonseca, a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Guelph, to present a CGIL Seminar on Friday November 5th, 2021. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST on the virtual platform Microsoft Teams. The title of the presentation is: “Development of bioinformatics tools for data integration: The Genomic Annotation in Livestock for positional candidate LOci (GALLO) case”.

Speaker Biography:

Dr. Pablo Fonseca has a bachelor’s degree in Biological Science (2012) and a Master of Science (2014) and a Ph.D. in Genetics (2018) with an emphasis in Genomics and Bioinformatics from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Since 2018, he is a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Guelph under the supervision of Dr. Angela Canovas, developing studies focused on the identification of genomic regions and metabolic pathways associated with reproductive and production traits in livestock species. He has experience in high-density genotyping data analysis, next-generation sequencing, genome-wide association studies (GWAS), multi-omics analysis, Statistical Genetics, Machine Learning applied to functional genetics, and System Biology. The main goals of his research are the development of bioinformatics and statistical tools for the identification of candidate genes for complex traits, functional analysis to identify biological processes regulating economically relevant traits, data-mining, and data integration.
