We are very pleased to have Dr. Sasha van der Klein, a geneticist for Hendrix Genetics, to present a CGIL Seminar on Friday October 1st, 2021. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST on the virtual platform Microsoft Teams. The title of the presentation is: “Applied turkey breeding”.
 
To join this seminar, please ensure you have downloaded the Microsoft Teams application to your computer, or join the meeting online by using the web browser version of Microsoft Teams. Please join the meeting with your microphone on mute and camera turned off. After the presentation, you can unmute the microphone, and optionally turn on the camera, if you wish to ask a question. ​Speaker Biography:
Sasha van der Klein is originally from the Netherlands, where she earned her BSc (2012) and her MSc (2015) in Animal Science from Wageningen University. She continued her graduate studies at the University of Alberta, where she earned her PhD (2020) focusing on statistical modeling of energy partitioning in broiler breeders. She started working as a turkey geneticist for Hendrix Genetics in January 2020. Her daily activities include genetic evaluation, selection, and mating of turkeys and she acts as a liaison between academic institutions and Hendrix Genetics. She works within a multidisciplinary turkey R&D team in Kitchener and leads and joins projects with the central R&D team in Boxmeer, the Netherlands.
