We are very pleased to have Dr. Adrien Butty, a geneticist at Qualitas AG, to present a CGIL Seminar on Friday October 8th, 2021. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST on the virtual platform Microsoft Teams. The title of the presentation is: “Implementation of single-step genomic evaluation in the Swiss dairy cattle populations”.

Speaker Biography:

Adrien Butty is originally from Switzerland where he earned his BSc (2013) and his MSc (2015) in Agroecosystem Science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ). Adrien spent some time during his MSc Studies at Wageningen University (NL), where he first discovered the fun of quantitative genetics in courses of the European Master in Animal Breeding and Genetics. He continued his graduate studies and earned his PhD at the University of Guelph in 2019 focusing on harnessing genomic variation in dairy cattle. Adrien is back in Switzerland since October 2019 and works as a geneticist at Qualitas AG, where he partly runs the routine genetic evaluation for dairy cattle and partly works on development projects, for instance, the implementation of a genetic evaluation for feed efficiency and single-step methods for genomic selection.
