Dr.  Lewis Lukens, an Associate Professor in the Plant Agriculture Department, will present the last CGIL Seminar of the Fall semester on Friday, December 6th. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM in room 141 of the Animal Science & Nutrition building. The title of the presentation is: “Analyses of Ontario winter wheat yields highlight recent yield stagnation and options for genetic improvement”.

Speaker Biography:

Dr. Lukens graduated from Carleton College (USA) in 1992 with a degree in German Literature. He earned a PhD in Plant Genetics at the University of Minnesota in 2000 and spent two years at Wisconsin as a postdoctoral fellow. He has worked at Guelph in the Department of Plant Agriculture since 2002. At Guelph, Lewis teaches plant genetics and bioinformatics classes at the graduate and undergraduate levels. For research, he enjoys uncovering the factors that shape crop plant genetic diversity and understanding the genetic bases of trait variation. He is currently Editor in Chief of Genome and an Associate Editor for Crop Science and PloSOne.
