This week we are happy to have Dr. Rodolfo Cantet, a Researcher at the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET) in Argentina, presenting for us on Friday, September 13th, 2024. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST in ANNU 141. The presentation title is: “Accounting for Recombination in Estimating Relatedness with IBD Segments from 3-Generation Pedigrees”.
Speaker biography: Rodolfo (Fito) Cantet is an animal breeder, Senior Researcher at CONICET, and a member of Argentina's National Academy of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences. He is an associate editor for the Journal of Animal Breeding and Genetics and Genetics Selection Evolution. He retired as a Full Professor of Animal Breeding at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) in 2022.
Cantet holds a degree in Agriculture from UBA, an MSc in Animal Science from Montana State University, and a PhD in Animal Science from the University of Illinois. He has authored over 100 papers and supervised numerous PhD and MSc students. Since 1999, he has led UBA’s genetic evaluations for beef cattle.
