This week we are happy to have Dr. Xuechun Bai, a Research Geneticist from Hendrix Genetics, presenting for us on Friday, April 26th, 2024. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST in ANNU 141. The presentation title is: “Innovative selection methods in turkey breeding”.
Speaker Biography: Dr. Bai's journey in Hendrix Genetics started as a rotational geneticist in 2021, which provided a great opportunity to work on multispecies, such as turkeys, swine, and layers. After a year of experience on multispecies, she is now a research geneticist of Hybrid Turkeys, the Turkey business unit of Hendrix Genetics since 2022, and they focus on exploring innovative selection methods to drive excellent product performance. Before joining Hendrix Genetics, she was a postdoc with Prof. Graham Plastow at the University of Alberta, Livestock Gentec, where she also obtained her PhD in animal genetics and breeding. Dr. Bai obtained her BSc in Animal Science at the University of Alberta and China Agricultural University.
